Maybe There's Hope

I have tried to describe for you what it is like to live out here on the 'Left Coast' and I'm sure that I have annoyed some by reiterating several times about how there is really only one way to express your personal beliefs around here- with a very liberal bend...

Or else you risk rolled eyes, condescending comments and my personal favorite- the 'look'- the one that says more clearly than ever that you are just some kind of imbecile that needs to be re-educated and indoctrinated into true understanding.  Surely then you wouldn't actually attempt to have an other than liberal belief system, or at least would have the decency not to voice it.

So imagine my complete and utter surprise when the other night I pulled into a parking space right between two Toyota Prius vehicles- you know the official vehicle of the northwest that clearly shows your left leaning superiority.  The vehicle that comes standard with an I heart Obamacare bumper sticker and also signifies that anyone who isn't driving said vehicle is obviously looking to slash and burn all forests and feed your children straight coal for breakfast.  (Never mind that electricity comes from coal.  Don't look behind that curtain.)

Now around here pulling into a parking space between two Prius cars is not all that unusual.  They are very popular vehicles in these parts.  No, the thing that was really, truly weird is that the place I was parking at was a gun range.  (I know, I know.  I'm stereotyping.  But tell me you've ever seen a Prius with an NRA sticker and I'll ask for photographic proof.)

We Americans may not be able to come to any agreement on global warming, but it looks like the 2nd Amendment has some pretty universal appeal.

  1. Thanks for the clue-in on the Prius. I never think about cars, as long it's 4-wheel and built high off the ground.

    1. Oh and the Prius commercials that sing the little 'hum, hum, hum- a Prius for everyone' scare the hell out of me!

  2. I think a lot of people are just trying to save money when it comes to buying gas. Especially those who commute. Putting $70 of liquid gold into my SUV twice a month would be enough to make me switch if I didn't have to somehow figure out a way to shove four kids and a husband into a vehicle that seats four, ha!

And you don't have to tell ME about electricity. My parents are both nuclear engineers. ;)

    1. Of course you are right. There are those who don't have any political message to sell with the cars they drive. Around here it seems we have an inordinate level of liberalism in every possible thing. It's very weird.
You also know that all good earth-loving liberals would tell you not to have 4 resource sucking children. Right? ;)

  3. Maybe there is hope. I like to think that more and more people are waking up.

You did know that Benghazi is back on the front burner. When you try to sell an obvious lie it just won't go away.

Maybe people are starting to question the absurdity of this whole Gun Control thing, too... Even Liberal folk who used to be on board are starting to think, "Wait a minute. Hitler started out with that plan. That might not be such a great idea."

What I do know is that Obama is the best gun salesman ever.

  4. Oh yes, Benghazi is back in the news where it belongs. I think most people hate liars.
And yes, more people than ever are aware of their gun rights and are deciding to exercise them.

BTW- when I get my pilots license I will be everywhere, all the time. And jetting to Vegas is high on my list!

  5. Is my Jeep a Prius? The Obama administration is like a feed bag without any oats.

  7. You had me thinking about the concept of a Prius with an NRA sticker all night. It blows my mind.

Also, Jasmine, if you get a chance, could you send me an e-mail? I have a question for you. Thanks.

  8. Here in Colorado those little toy cars, also known as a Pirus, are showing up more and more. Yet there are far more big trucks and suv's and most of them usually travel very close behind those little toy cars. I think we all secretly want to squish one just once to see what would be left.

Haven't seen any at our gun range yet, but now I know I'm going to notice the cars in the parking lot next time!

  9. I came here from Robin's blog and your first post hooked me in, totally :) Even though I don't live on the Left Coast, I feel your pain.

Nice to meet you and brand new follower :)
