A Healing Surprise

After 40 years of living in a place that didn't suit me and holds all kinds of crummy stuff that didn't work for me at all, you'd think I wouldn't be so surprised to find that there is so much more for me here in SoCal than I ever could have imagined.  Whew, that was a mouthfull...

And here comes another one...

What I'm trying to say is that along with seeing the sun on a real daily basis & no more northwest tree and mold allergies & enjoying painfree joints & spending more time on a bicycle than I have in years & having the luxury of being able to swim or do any other outdoor activity EVERY DAMN DAY if I feel like it & no longer feeling cold all the darn time, I have also discovered that even though I thought that being far away from my seriously screwed up family would be a nice side benefit- it turns out I was wrong.

It is SO FRIGGIN' GREAT to know that there is 1200 miles between me and anyone I really don't want knocking at my door.  Seriously, I am beyond happy to find this unexpected wonderfulness is way more than a mere side benefit.  It is just about the most FREEING thing that I have ever experienced.

Yeah, just had to let y'all know!

  1. That is definitely a benefit of living thousands of miles away! No surprise visits!

  2. I discovered that years ago. Someone told me one time "show me a family that is not dysfunctional, and I'll show you a dysfunctional family." I am happy for you, but please promise me that after living in California for a year you will not dream about planting tomatoes on the moon in order to feed the world..

    1. Ok, I'll admit that there's some weird ideas floating around out here on the left coast. However, I have already discovered that although the reputation is for a whole lot of wacky leftist thinking out here in CA, it is nothing at all compared to the lockstep leftist whack-jobs I left behind in Seattle. So I should survive just fine!

  3. I am so happy for you. I bet that if you knew how freeing this was done you would have taken this step years ago! Ah well... I think we do things when we are ready to receive the benefits. And you were ready. That is a wonderful gift all by itself.

    1. Yup, I had to learn that I actually COULD leave behind the people who I allowed to make me feel like I didn't have choices. I have never felt more free. It's like Christmas and every other holiday all wrapped up into one giant gift- to me, from me!

    1. And I got to do it by moving to a place that feels very familiar to me, as I have vacationed here for years. It's all a huge win-win!

  5. My wife has been suffering from allergies so bad that she hasn't been able to pick up her bike all year. She can't even take walks without feeling like complete crap, so I can only imagine how much of a relief that is for you to be able to get out on a daily basis. Hurray for change!

    1. This is so beyond awesome that I can't even explain it. A friend of mine tells me that in a few years I will have to move again as I will get used to this place and the allergies will develop again. Oh well, I would move ever year if it meant feeling like this. I literally have not ever felt this healthy since the allergies really got started as a little kid.

    1. If you suffer at all like I do, I would say do whatever you have to do to get rid of those darn allergies. It is so like changing in the very best way!
