Bullets In The Moment

Sometimes it seems like it's easier to blog when there's not so much that I could blog about, you know what I mean?

There's quite a bit going on around here.

It's not so much that I feel overwhelmed.  It's just that I'm not sure how to break it down into digestible pieces, rather than yammer on in a not so interesting way.

For today, let's go with the bullet points...

o  I have discovered that there is yet another layer of stuff that I am ready to have out of my life that is still currently residing in my house.  I am in the process of purging more things again, even though I am probably the least pack-rattish of any of my friends.

o  I have spent many hours with my little chihuahua doing more kinds of training than I have ever done with any other dog that I've ever had.  It turns out that although he is still quite typically 'toy dog' shy with strangers and we can't seem to change that about him, he has an extreme ability to learn tricks very quickly.  Although I wish that more than just our closest friends could see what a happy go lucky little guy we have, I have decided that it is not any more likely that I will ever truly change my dogs personality than changing my own innate self, so we are going to concentrate on his strengths.  Since he loves attention when he is 'performing' and almost completely forgets his shyness, we will soon start agility training!

o   On the way back from our July 4th trip to Yellowstone, my suv's A/C went out as we were traveling over 100 miles of eastern Oregon desert and it was 100 degrees out.  Now a month after having it repaired for $900, it is out again.  Did I mention that we are leaving on Friday to go back down to Palm Springs?  Yeah, another desert.  If this car is not careful, it will find itself in the pile of things that I don't need in my life anymore!

o  Here in Seattle, this summer has honestly been the nicest, warmest, sunniest summer of my life.  I wish it would never end.  I am trimming back all of my trees and shrubs as much as I can to maximize the light later on this Fall.

o  I have become very interested in the idea of people deciding to live where they like to vacation.  Why do so many of us spend so much time convincing ourselves that we couldn't do that?

o  I love that my husband is easily the most easy-going person that I have ever known.  I used to find this a tad annoying and now I don't even know why I was ever annoyed by that!

What about you?  What's up in your life these days?
Sometimes the fun is in the details!

  1. Chihuahuas are my favorite breed of dog. Cody (my present collie mix) was a rescue dog but I had a chihuahua at the time. Now he is gone at age 16 and my heart feels sad whenever I see one. My last little guy was shy too but he was never a barker.

When I was young, cars never had AC. We just cranked the windows open. Haha

    1. I'm rapidly remembering why I loved my little brown chihuahua, Coco, so much when I was a kid. Chihuahuas are just great little dogs! I think that's why I want everyone else to see how fun this little guy is as well. We are letting others handle him as much as possible and he is warming up very slowly. I'm glad ours is not much of a barker either. I know some chihuahuas are pretty bad about that. Maybe you ought to have another little chi in your life??? Our breeder is in South Dakota...
I know I am so bad to be dependent on the AC. I don't use it much, but I think the desert at over 100 degrees is even too much for me. We didn't like the 4(windows)80(miles per hour) style AC much at all. ;)

  2. Good luck with the chiahuahua. We have a chi-mix, and he only accepts the three of us. Not even my parents, in-laws, etc. No one can get close to him except us. He even has the "bite" warning in his chart at the vet! She said it's very typical of the breed and they are known for being difficult to acclimate to strangers.

It's good that you are working with him though. The more you do, I'm sure the better it will get. Good luck!

    1. Our trainer tells us that our chi is the best she has ever seen and that my expectations are pretty high. I think I just get pretty wrapped up in the idea of sharing my own experience of how fun my little guy is. On the rare occasions that he acts like 'himself' in front of others, people just can't believe what a joy he is. Maybe the agility training will be the bridge we need- at least it will be fun!

  3. Every dog I've ever had has their own distinct personality. You can't change it any more than you can change a person. I like that you are choosing to focus on his strengths. We should be so smart as to do that with people.

Sounds like your AC repair people missed something. I would think that there would be some sort of warranty on that job...

What you said about living where you want to vacation... it's why we moved back to Florida. Of course, we are now kicking ourselves a bit that we didn't try harder to live where we did before rather than where we are now (even though we are only talking about 20-25 miles difference). We just really loved that other community so much, but we will adjust to this one, too.

    1. Easier to do with people than dogs, right?!

My AC is back in business and even though it wasn't truly a part that was already worked on, they covered it anyway and didn't charge me. I go to a local family owned shop and I love them!

Good to know your experience. I will definitely give that some thought. I would think it is worth it to hold out for what you really want. But like you say, you will adjust. And I'm sure you are overall happier back in Florida. Plus, as I remember you needed to make a quick move so it was meant to be I'm sure.

  4. I love dogs and Chihuahuas are so cute. I've never had one but I know someone who has one now, and that little girl is so shy of strangers! She snarls and growls whenever someone other than her owner tries to get close to her.
