Right Now:
1) I am more certain than ever that SoCal is the right place for my husband and I to be, at least while he works his way from Associate level actuary to Fellowship. I'm not sure at all why I fought this for so long.
2) I need to order a birthday cake.
3) A woman I have worked with for 11 years is on her way to fulfilling her dream of moving to Hawaii. She leaves on the 27th. After helping her through 4 moves- all downsizes, from an original property of 11,000 square feet and 2 acres of land- I am aware of how much I will miss her and how much I have learned from her.
4) I pack up something every day to sell or give away and I can't wait to get really serious about this selling our house and moving.
5) I'm saying no and doing what I need to, for me.
6) I love how my sinuses are finally clear and my body doesn't ache while I am in SoCal.
7) It's absolutely freeing to know that just because what we have and where we are is not so bad, it's totally OK to want something different.
8) Flowers line my walk, and make me smile.
9) I realize how great the music from the early 70's is and I know we are going to have a blast on Saturday, sharing a fun celebration of my husband and I's first 40 years!
What's going on with you, right now?
Sounds like you have your ducks in a row. Hope you can find some conservative friends who have some sense in Southern California. The better health will make the move worth it I would think. I have seen people suffer with sinus problems. I am glad to learn you are getting relief from it and flowers are one of my passions. Take care.
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not, we have actually already met many more people in SoCal with what I call 'diversity of thought' than we have ever known here in the Seattle area. One was a gay guy with a Reagan tattoo!
DeleteThe health benefits alone would be worth the move. If I ever come up with a cure for post nasal drip I will become a billionaire. Honestly, my SoCal friends tell me I sound like a totally different person when I come back to the northwest. Having something like your voice be affected by tree and mold allergies is just so personal and more than annoying.
I do love flowers; real ones. I'm not a flower fabric or that type of thing person. I do like photographs of real flowers.
This is a wonderful list. Every item on it is relevant to who you are and where you're going (literally and figuratively). I don't know why we fight things that end up being good for us. Maybe we are simply averse to change... any change... even those that are good. Better the devil you know and all that. It is when we can let that go and decide I'd rather try the devil I don't know that life gets interesting. I think that everyone who lived an interesting life did so because they embraced changed. I am so happy for you are constantly becoming.
ReplyDeleteRight now I have vegetable plants growing from seed in my window. Every day I monitor their progress and it makes me smile. It feels good to watch things grow.
I thought I had the answer and that moving to Texas was the only change I would accept. I couldn't see the answer was right there in front of my face and I kept being exposed to it every time I went down to SoCal.
DeleteI grew vegetables from seed the last couple of years and it was awesome. I ended up giving lots of plants away and getting lots of veggies in return! I'm not doing it this year because I plan to leave before they would be ready to go outside in our local climate.
Fantastic list! Things sound great in your world and I couldn't be happier. You know what's going on in my world and I'm so thankful for your kind words of support. I'm doing pretty darn good all things considered. Hugs and enjoy your celebration.
ReplyDeleteThanks Barb! I had a feeling you would be alright. I'm so glad to see you coming into your own and doing what you need to.
DeleteWe will have a wonderful time with about 40 friends, celebrating our 40th birthdays this Saturday night!
Do you mean you are having a wedding anniversary on Saturday? No way, you're not that old. Or do you mean from the time you met each other, as didn't you once say you met as children? Oh I don't know.... have fun on Saturday no what what you are celebraing. Ha
ReplyDeleteOh Manzi- you are too funny! Sometimes I forget that not everyone knows what all I'm talking about. We just celebrated our 17th anniversary and we are both now 40 years old. We met online in the dark ages of 1995- way before eharmony or any other online dating service! We chatted about morals and look what happened!
